Adaku. (2019)
Adaku. (2019)The Amandla series is an exploration of the generative nature of Black Power through portraiture of Black freedom fighters and organizers within maroon spaces—physical and spiritual spaces liberated from an oppressive society. Within maroon spaces, Black people are free to process trauma, shift consciousness, imagine new possibilities, and take important leaps toward building collective power and Black liberation. These spaces are vital to building successful movements and realizing the freedom dreams of our ancestors. Amandla is a quest to bear witness to the magic, joy, and transformation. It is a call to action for all Black people to liberate themselves by cultivating maroon space.
